Helen Margaret Barker was born in Salt Lake City, UT on Nov. 24, 1917. The Barker family settled in Los Angeles in the 1920s. Helen began painting in the 1930s and remained self-taught except for a brief period with Christian Von Schneideu.
She settled on the Monterey Peninsula in 1954 and in 1960 married artist Cecil Lefeuvre. The couple operated an art gallery there until 1987. Mrs. Lefeuvre died in Carmel on April 5, 1998. Working in oil, acrylic and watercolor, she painted florals, seascapes and landscapes of the area.
